Landscape Design

What does a landscape tell us? Have you ever stopped to really listen for a little while? What did you hear? What did you feel? Poetics and the perception of landscape in all its facets have fascinated me since my studies of landscape architecture at university, and I love to portray it in all kinds of ways. Let’s go for a walk together!

“I only went out for a walk, and finally concluded to stay out till sundown, for going out, I found, was really going in.”

– John Muir

Landscape goes Book Design

As a trained landscape architect the issue of getting interesting & useful information out into the world is very important to me. Despite – or perhaps because of - the increasingly digital world we inhabit, physical/printed books still have a special place in our hearts.

Whatever aspect of landscapes you’re writing about - the environment, ecology, social dilemmas, backyard gardening, poetic notes on how you perceive the world, or simply your favourite potted plants - a book’s format can strengthen & portray your message in a refined & comforting way.

Visual Presentation

How do we perceive our surroundings? I specialise in the field of spatial perception and the interaction between human beings & the natural realm. Through a more artistic approach, I develop visuals, images, and graphics that carry the message of in-situ perceptions – where whole new worlds can sometimes be discovered.

Concepts, Design & Planning

The analysis, conception, design & planning process of land- and cityscapes results in all sorts of graphical presentation methods, e.g. flyers, catalogues, reviews, reports, or posters. Conceptualising, sorting, and designing this mixture of information for quick & easy understanding is another part of this profession I love. Here you see a spread of an urban development report I designed.

In cooperation with Martina Jauschneg, I analysed & planned design tools for specific urban realms, with reference to climate change & usability, for the City of Vienna. The illustration shows an overview of the area’s main landmarks.

Information Illustration

Another way to convey ideas, concepts, or results comprehensibly is via graphics, images & illustrations. Therefore I specialised in Information Illustration to convey thoughts, messages, and words in a visually appealing way. Do you not remember information far better with some visual aid?
